How many times have we sat in a wrap meeting, everyone patting themselves on the back, only to hear the post-production supervisor lamenting “If only I’d known that on set”? It’s a refrain as old as filmmaking itself, a testament to the persistent chasm between shooting and finishing that has plagued even the most meticulously planned productions. Now, an independent entity named DISAUTHORITY aims to bridge that gap, unifying production and post-production under what they term a “next-generation studio” model, and in so doing, potentially rewriting the rules for how independent features get made.

Croydon movie studio to begin horror filming next month
Just in time for Halloween (well, Halloween 2026 if post-production goes smoothly), a chilling supernatural horror is about to be filmed in and around Croydon. Starring actress Lucy Russell, Sticks and Stones is director Lily Howkins’s debut feature, and the first feature film from Croydon-based Disauthority Originals.

Heartland Film announced the lineup for the 8th edition of Indy Shorts, running from July 22-27 in the Indiana capital. More than 250 short films of virtually every genre will be showcased, among them 41 world premieres, 18 U.S. premieres and 113 Midwest premieres.

The European MFI Script 2 Film Workshops, organised by the Mediterranean Film Institute (MFI), are returning for their 26th edition on the island of Nisyros. From 20 June-2 July, over 70 screenwriters, directors and producers from 24 countries will gather on the volcanic island to develop their scripts and ideas through a combination of group sessions, individual consultations and master classes.

Directed by Masha Egieva (Saint Vassily), the film revolves around a crisis of desire for a middle-aged bourgeois couple and is shooting in Paris this week. According to Egieva, the film is “toying with the canons of Greek tragedy and French erotic drama” and questions if women need to be seen to feel desired. “
